Where The Roses Never Fade
I stumbled on your site. I was shocked beyond words! Betty Towriss was my mother. She passed away this past July 1(2022). I miss her something terrible. It was my father’s dream to have her record an album. Daddy, Rev. Charles Towrris was a minister. He actually met my mother, who sang in a trio and traveled the east coast. He saw her picture in the paper in 1958. He went to the revival, where she was singing. Asked her out after the service. She said “no” but, said he could come back the next night. He did and they married in January 1959. They were married 52 years before daddy passed away in 2010. We actually played songs from mothers record at both of their funerals. The album is extra special to my family and a great legacy for our children and grandchildren. Myself and my sister, and a few girlfriends, sang the back up on several songs. My then boyfriend ( now husband of 40 years, played the guitar, our veey good friend ( like an uncle to my girls), played the drums. My father-in-law did all the arrangements on the songs, he also played the piano and organ. Mother could easily have gone professional with her music. But, she became a pastors wife and was a role model to all that met her. Thank you so much for this unbelievable gift you have given me and my family. I still reside in Roanoke, Virginia, where this album was made.
