Today I present a nice change of pace to the typical "southern gospel" sound I normally present on this blog. The Celestials are a fab gospel girl group who worked out of Lexington, Kentucky. They choose a 1950s girl group pop vocal approach that is backed up by a variety of session musicians on this set including a string section featured on the track "He". There are a couple of songs that feature Roy Moody who was "married to Doris…" (see bio on back cover).

  1. Nice to see someone else enjoying this record!! Roy and Doris are my great uncle and aunt. I unearthed this gem from my grandmothers basement a couple years back and now listen to it ever so often - the harmonies are fun and I especially love hearing my uncle Roy sing again (he passed away in the late 90's) and my Aunt Doris is still playing piano. Never knew the rest of the women singers.

    1. Thanks for sharing. This is one of many "locally" produced recordings I find in the Cincinnati, Ohio area either in record stores or thrift shops.
