Jewel Records, Cincinnati, Ohio
Lost to history artist, Kenny Felts was living in Covington, Kentucky when this album was made.
I've collected many Jewel private press gospel LPs. Most private press southern gospel is raw country twang that I throughly enjoy. But this album is very much different. It's a blend of country, rockabilly and 50s group pop vocals. Felts has an unexpected smooth voice. The Starlighters, Evelyn Fenhoff, Lucille Watkins and Linda Felts do a great job backing Felts up. The guitar (which I assume Felts is playing) along with the rest of the band to a great job backing. And Rusty York, as usual, does an excellent job engineering the sound.
Felts was born in Corbin, Kentucky in 1929. He had a program on WCTT, Corbin's first radio station.
