Take Your Shoes Off Moses - J. D. Jarvis

There Ain't No Grave Gonna Hold My Body Down & Does God Really Care
Take Your Shoes Off Moses
J. D. Jarvis
Jewel Records - Mt. Healthy, Ohio
LP-112

J. D. Jarvis made a number of records in Cincinnati, Ohio area. This album is a re-release of earlier material.

Jarvis's mailing address was Hamilton, Ohio. He was born in Clay County, Kentucky.

From the back cover: J. D. is a very busy man, operating his paint contracting business in Hamilton, Ohio, through the week, and on weekends, traveling hundreds of miles to sing and play the old time Gospel songs at which he is so adept.

Session musicians include Gene Sweet, Roger Smith, Vernon McQueen and Ernie Wells.

The samples, the last two tracks on the A side, are both credited to Rev. John Carter, pastor of the Pentecostal Highway Of Holiness Church in Hamiliton, Ohio.

I've also run across Jarvis's name backing up other local gospel acts who were recording at the same time.

Rusty York wrote the album notes, produced and surely engineered the album (although engineering chores aren't specifically credited).

Comment: First press is 1965 Jewel (OH) EP - 600 Gospel Rockabilly you Gotta dig it Thanks for this one!
