This blog features the many gospel albums I find. 90% of the records featured here were created by local Cincinnati, Ohio area artists (on Jewel, Rite and Queen City record labels among others). Here you will find the Good, Bad & Ugly but never The Lackluster! If there are copyright issues or a problem with any post, just contact me and I will make corrections. I'm here to have fun and hope you will share in my process of discovery!
George Shiverdecker was my paternal grandfather. I've seen old copies of this album lying around the houses of my various family members but never actually heard any of it till now. By the time I was old enough to recollect hearing Grandpa sing, he was well into his 70s and while he still had a great voice, he'd lost a lot of the power and range on display in this recording. Grandpa passed on his love of music to my father and aunt (an accomplished pianist herself) and singing regularly in his church at Sunday services, weddings and funerals until his death in 2008 at age 86. Thanks for posting this.
