This blog features Vintage Gospel Albums, the majority of which were recorded in the 1970's. Many of the LPs featured here were created by Cincinnati, Ohio area artists on private press recording and production labels such as Jewel, Rite and QCA (Queen City Album). Here you will find the Good, Bad & Ugly but never The Lackluster! I'm here to have fun and hope you will share in my process of discovery!

Evangelist Gertrude Patrick - I Sing Because It's In My Heart
I heard Ms. Patrick sing when I was just a child at Hatmaker Street Church of God in Cincy. I believe her son in law was Rev. Troy Davidson who pastored on Eastern Avenue.
Gertrude Patrick was an iconic singer/evangelist--. I saw her many times and it was just her; she didn't really need a band. "Hold on to the Answer" was a very powerful song that she sang.
Both of my parents were saved during one of Gertrude Patrick's revivals in Louisville KY in 1951. She would sing a song called The Lost Sheep, and my mother sang it for years after that. I would love to be able to find a recording of that song, because I want to use it during my mother's funeral, and she is in bad health now at the age of 88. If anyone knows where I could get one I'd be ever so grateful. You can contact me at kaicken@aol.com
