The Lowell Mason Family - Daddy Sang Bass

The Lowell Mason Family
Presents Daddy Sang Bass
Crusade LPS 4203

One of a number of albums made by Lowell Mason, The Singing Miget (as he billed himself on some of his earlier print material). Lowell is still working.

If you are like me, male bass vocals can get old quickly. But, on this album, his voice is just off-beat enough to make a number of the tracks fun "southern gospel" listening. Also, a few tracks feature a sax which is deliciously quirky. Musically, the mix of instruments, vocals and chorus holds your interest and makes for good fun.

  1. I am listening to this album as we speak. I was just an infant when he came to our church in Ohio. I am not sure of the year but I think it was 1967 and I was three. We bought this album at this time and I still have it after all these years.

Following the service his family came over to our house. I remember being excited because here was an adult who was the same height I was. I showed him my little plastic guitar and he looked at it and made me feel like I had the fanciest guitar in the world. That meant the world to me.
