Melody Sound Studio/Records, Hamilton, Ohio
This set features songs written by Cager Mc Queen of DeMossville, Kentucky. DeMossville is a village found about 6 miles down the road from me. Check out The Lord Expelled From School for more great samples.
I don't know how many records McQueen recorded. This one was obviously recorded after the first two albums I blogged today. The studio recording has sucked some of the "country" edge out of McQueen's vocals on this album.
It is interesting to note that McQueen is supported by different musicians and vocalists on each project. So the results are different on each set. I don't think that I've run across another private press artist who made albums this way. McQueen seems to have been a risk taker, creatively speaking.
The "Queens" steal the spotlight on this record. McQueen steps aside and lets the girls do most of the vocal chores. The song, I Found A Man I Can Talk To was written by McQueen's daughter, Marie. Sleeping Disciples was written by Theresa Rose, whose photo appears on the back cover. This is a spirited and delightful recording.
