A Firm Foundation - Leon G. Cook

I've Discovered The Way Of Gladness
A Firm Foundation
The Leon G. Cook Family
1974

Here's an interesting gospel vanity press from a family that was working out of Witchita, Kansas. The back jacket notes indicate that his son, L Gene Cook was the Associate Pastor, Minister of Music and Director of Day Care Center at the First Church of the Nazarene, Newport, Kentucky. This would be the local connection and probably why I found this record in a Northern Kentucky thrift shop.

The music is curious, in that the majority of the tunes have a movie musical or show tune "sound" to them. I've never heard anything like it and I've listened to a heap of gospel records. If you are into the small things that make these presentations different from one another, this treatment makes for a fun listen.
